India through the eyes of an Indian. Part-2

12:30 PM
* Now that I was on the other side,I continued my aimless wandering, walking on the sidewalk that was kinda empty rather than the usual ambiance of a bustling crowd all around me.All of a sudden my tummy rumbled and my hunger pangs were gnawing at my insides."Damn! All I had this morning was half-a-cup of coffee"I  thought to myself.Fortunately the most famous hotel of my area was just around the corner and I was just a few steps away from a scrumptious breakfast(more like brunch considering the time).I finally reached the restaurant and looked at the 'Today's special'outside the hotel that read 'Paneer tikka' .Below that was the common items that the hotel served like coffee, tea, roti's etc.Next to the items listed were its respective pictures, just looking at them made me smack my lips and literally drool at the sight of it.But the next thing that was labeled after these 2 were the ones that made my shoulders droop --The Price of the items.--

The price of their cheapest dish itself was above 200Rs,while I just had an almost empty wallet. "Note to self:Must ask dad to give me this month's pocket money"I said to myself and turned away from the hotel knowing that I would not be able to fill my stomach with the meager amount of food that I can buy with that measly amount of money I have in my pocket. As I turned I saw a small shaft with tables and chairs and people sitting in them eating.I walked towards it trying to think why I hadn't seen this hotel before."Maybe it was because of all this trees and greenery around it that kept it away from the traffic and crowd.I reached there and found people with blue uniforms preparing food. There was one on my right pounding on dough to make parathas while the guy on my left was preparing 'Paneer Tikka'!!.This dish being my most favorite dish made me run to the man sitting at the billing counter."I'd like a plate of Paneer tikka and 2 parathas please" I said and suddenly had a feeling that this small shaft wouldn't give me the quality of the excellent food that would be served in that famous hotel I had just turned down. The man at the counter just noted down my order and handed me my bill,"Your bill sir" he said.I took the bill and became a little worried about the price but as I read the amount at the bottom I felt relieved. This was because the price of my order was 2 times less than the price of what it would have been in -'Hotel expensively famous'

But then I went back to the thought of whether this place would provide the quality that would match my expectations.I could see the man making parathas pounding on the dough that I was gonna be eating and all the way over to my left I could see 'Mr.Paneer man' making my favorite dish. And within 2 minutes of waiting I could see the waiter bringing a tray towards my table.By that time My tummy felt like I had Michael Schumacher driving all over my insides with his red Ferrari. The waiter propped up my food on the table and started placing spoons and forks on my table. He took a bottle of ketchup from an empty table and placed it on mine."Am I supposed to eat my parathas with a spoon and a fork,And why the hell is a bottle of ketchup placed on my table..Serve me the freaking food already"I wanted to shout but didn't.And at last he kept my two dishes on the table and left me in peace to get on with my food.

I lifted my two parathas from my bread basket and dropped it on my plate, swearing at my carelessness of ignoring the smoke rising from it which as a result burnt my hands.I used the spoon to help put my paneer on my plate."So that's what the spoon is for Eh,But I still don't see why he kept the fork on my table?"I said to myself smiling as I broke off a small piece of my soft Indian bread and used it to lift a square shaped paneer that felt so fluffy and nice and shoved it in my mouth.

And as soon as it entered my mouth,my taste buds became active,My eyes went wide and I froze with my first piece of the day's food still in my mouth*----

Don't work too hard, nobody notices anyway.

India through the eyes of an Indian. Part-1 (This is a series)

Think of the most common things you normally do in a day?It usually consists of waking up in the morning, going to your place of work or learning, coming back home in the evening, switching on your computer and reading epic blog posts like mine *cough*.Well this happens almost everyday leaving you with a day-to-day routine which I am sure are immersed into but have you ever taken 5 or even a minute to observe what's happening around you?

Well this series does just that,I am going to reveal things that most of you miss due to your hectic and busy lifestyles where your destinations are the office/school etc  and back home... so lets open the first page of my diary :)

You are now entering into the diary of Nikhil.S.P----

December 23 '2011                                                                                                    Friday

Dear diary,
I got up from bed switching off my alarm clock on my android, stretching my arms above my head I mumbled to myself,"Agrhh...today's gonna be just like always".I slowly brought myself up to the dresser and put on a Metallica T-shirt and a pair of jeans after finishing all my morning activities,I made my way to the dining room and found my dad as usual having his newspaper up his nose.Overcoming my sleepiness I managed to utter 2 words, 'Good Morning' to my Dad he replied back and went back to his newspaper.

My mom brought two cups of her famous coffee to the table and for the first time Dad had to keep his paper away to have a good and long sip of it.I on the other hand just stared at it as many thoughts raced in my mind after a lot of thinking I came to a final conclusion on what to do today."I think I'll take the day off my daily chores and routine and breath in a little of my surroundings"So with this thought in mind I pushed my android into the front pocket of my jeans and my almost empty wallet at the back pocket.

I bade farewell to my Mom,Dad and Sis and stepped out of the house.Standing on the porch,I felt the Friday morning sun warm on body while the cool December air brushed past my cheeks.Sounds of happy children shouting and playing cheerfully,The milkman ringing his bell,Some elderly group of people singing Christmas carols for the oncoming Christmas celebrations echoed all around my neighbour hood. For a moment I stood there and thought,"Would I be able to witness such poetry in motion if I was rushing to my classes like usual?"

I finally snapped out of the beauty that my neighborhood possessed and started walking along a thin strip of land that was supposedly a shortcut to the main road.I finally reached the main road and was shocked at what I was witnessing,In front of me was a massive ocean!!! An ocean filled with cars that is.Cars of different models and makes were all stuck bumper to bumper in middle of a huge traffic jam.I like most of the lucky pedestrians made my way squeezing in between cars and brought myself to the opposite side in 2 minutes less then what I would have normally taken.I turned back to look at the massive ocean of cars that I had just crossed and scanned the area and found every person in a vehicle either shouting or swearing. But at last all this commotion came to an end when a traffic police man made his way to the middle and brought back things to normal.*

The English Language Dying because of Texting?

i <3 txting uve gota problm wit tat pnk? :D

In today's fast paced and modern world where technology has become a main asset to our
society,we've got many devices that simplify our use of instant messaging via cellphones and the internet. The youth of this generation who have this availability of instant messaging have slowly developed a style of using abbreviated text to communicate among them. This new style has grown into a new language commonly called as texting or Msging etc.

This new form of using abbreviated text has become so prominent over the days that Educators worry about the richness of grammar and stuff that the English language has always been renowned for.
Some even feel that this style might replace the Standard English language in the years to come.Others say that it is allowing teenagers to contribute a new and easier style of quick communication to the English language.

Texting critics note that texting narrows down the persons ability to express his words.Texting is a whole new form that is far away from the richness of the English language taught at schools. Some even suspect that this is diminishing the persons ability to express himself through writing.

But some researchers came to the conclusion that texting allows the individual to avoid the use of grammar, capitalization etc and still make the text readable as the human mind subject to recognize a word without having to read it letter by letter and hence decreasing the level of difficulty in the English language.

Texting doesn't really change or revolutionize the English language because that is not its purpose. Its main purpose is to have a quick easy way of communicating without the use of vowels, appropriate grammar etc.

It is neither contributing or destroying the evolution of the English language. It may be trading horns with the traditional and neat structure of The rich English language but I doubt it will replace the English language that we've been using for centuries.

One can use texting on the internet or while messaging to one's friends because it is quick and when the content is not usually important. The traditional English language must be used in formal ways such as conferences, business emails or messages etc and even in schools. This relationship between texting and the Traditional English fusing together to be used in different situations, preserves the richness of the Language English.

I love to text and I proud of that and I hope the article above changed the minds of 'those 'who think texting is affecting the English literature.

The comic strip below is for 'those 'who hate texting :D enjoy. The comic strip was made by yours truly Nikhil.S.P.

Facebook vs Twitter.

When I first joined twitter,it seemed more like a beta version of facebook. It had no attach photos,no tags,no extra goodies like games and stuff,Couldn't attach a video or song. This really bugged me a lot.But as I figured out how to use twitter,it made a lot of sense to me as I got to know many things that I like to know.It was a like a social wikipedia to say the least. And today I prefer Twitter to Facebook in some ways like the ones given below.

RSS FEED.

Facebook have so many apps and games and other "exciting' stuff that they shockingly forgot to add a RSS FEED.Because of that our viewable timeline can fill up pretty fast with the random good mornings and farmville 'crops are dying' posts. These posts hide away news that a dear family member or friend posts. So unless you go to visit their profile(Something you guys rarely do)you could miss out on important information.

Whereas Twitter thought of such a situation and added The RSS subscription option on every contacts page. This is very helpful but my family and friends still stick their face to facebook and are reluctant to switch over to Twitter. :D

EXTRA STUFF.

The stuff that I didn't like about Twitter a year ago is now something that keeps me to it rather than Facebook. That's right....There are no games,no private groups,or obvious pages like'Blowing while drinking from a straw instead of sucking :/).In Twitter it is all plain and simple like The about me page is so much simpler. In Facebook our walls are always filled with your friends scores in games that you don't even play and other uninteresting random updates. If I am connected to a person who plays a game 24/7,they can fill up my news feed entirely of their game requests.

Twitter is more of a 'to the point' site where we can just publish what really matters.
One thing I don't like about Twitter is that its hard to covey your message in 160 characters or less.

I have taken a huge liking for twitter now and use it more than facebook, but Facebook has its own style and features that Twitter don't have.

FACEBOOK VS TWITTER: RESULT: Draw. Both are unique and fun in their own way.Facebook brings you closer to your family and friends.Twitter is more helpful business wise and is quicker to use.
